5 pregnant women

The Natural Pregnancy Project started from my overwhelming desire to help women who were looking for information on natural pregnancy and childbirth find the resources they needed.

I spent hours and hours of time online when I was pregnant researching pregnancy and learning what I needed to know to have a natural pregnancy and childbirth. I attended natural childbirth classes, and found I had more to learn and research after each class was over. I love doing research (it’s just part of who I am) and I know most people do NOT! :) I thought it would be amazing to put together all the resources and information I found and learned throughout my pregnancy and make it readily available to women in one place.

That still ISĀ  what the Natural Pregnancy Project is about, but even in the short time since I launched the program it has blossomed and grown into something so much more ~ something I never even imagined.

In less than a week the Natural Pregnancy Project has become a global community of women helping women. Women who want to support and assist other mamas-to-be in having a natural pregnancy and childbirth.

When I asked for Natural Childbirth Stories for the project I received a FLOOD of stories from moms out there who wanted to help, wanted to be a shining example of what natural childbirth can be.

I am so excited to see this project taking off in a direction that, although I didn’t see it originally, now seems inevitable. We are fast becoming a global network of moms, moms-to-be, doulas and midwives with the same intent. To make natural pregnancy and childbirth a way of life, the first and obvious option when making your birthing choices. More than that we are building a community of strong, loving women who are willing and eager to support women around the world in making and achieving their natural birthing decisions.

I realize when I started this was “my project”. I had been thinking of this for years ~ since 2005 when I got pregnant! Now I KNOW ~ this project ~ it is OURS. All the Natural mamas and want to be but don’t quite know how natural mamas in the world. This is our place to come for a gentle place to land. It is a place to offer ideas, thoughts, suggestions, your expertise, support, guidance, love and kindness to other women who are traveling this natural pregnancy and childbirth journey. They say it takes a village to raise a child ~ I intend this to be the village where people begin their journey.

Thank you all ~ for your help, your enthusiasm and for being YOU!!!

    Hi,

I am looking for resources that don’t say, “Ask your doctor, he has all the answers.” I have two specific questions. In two weeks, I will be at the 28 week pregnant mark. I will do the standard blood draw and screening, but I am not sure about doing the glucose test or getting a Rhogam shot (I am Rh-). This is my first pregnancy and at 18 weeks I had no antibodies against Rh+ blood, so I don’t expect it now, 10 weeks later. What is the reasoning behind getting a shot at 28 weeks? Also, I’ve heard that the glucose test almost FORCES women to test positive for diabetes by giving their body way too much to handle. Plus, I’d immediately forfit my midwife’s care. What I want to know is, what do people in the natural world think of these two things? What should I know and what factors should I consider? Thank you. Any direction would be appreciated.

    Sincerely,
    Andrea
