10 Basic Cures for Morning Sickness

Avoid warm places ~ warm places can often increase the feelings of nausea you are experiencing. You might keep a window open in the car or at the office, even at night it might be helpful to keep a window cracked if you keep your house warm.

Take naps ~ but not right after you eat. I know you are always tired these days and that’s your body’s way of telling you to take a break. Follow it’s advice! Being overly tired can exacerbate your morning sickness.

Get enough sleep at night ~ along the lines of taking naps, if you make sure you are well rested it will help to alleviate your symptoms of morning sickness.

Get out of bed slowly ~ often a quick transition from laying to sitting will bring waves of nausea. Just sit up slowly and you will be able to quell much of the nausea.

Take your prenatal vitamins before bed ~ the iron in your prenatal vitamins often times can cause nausea adding to your morning sickness symptoms. If you take them before bed you will be less likely to experience the nausea from the vitamins.

Keep crackers next to the bed ~ eat a few crackers in the morning before you even attempt to get out of bed. Eat some crackers rest for a few minutes, then go ahead and get out of bed slowly.

Herbal tea ~ a cup of warm herbal tea can help, especially with organic ginger root, organic spearmint, organic chamomile, organic lemon balm, organic peppermint and organic red raspberry leaf.

Ginger ~ ginger has been shown to alleviate the symptoms of morning sickness. You can make a batch of ginger tea, get some crystalized ginger or even suck on a “preggie pop” which are ginger flavored. Some women swear by flat ginger ale ~ just make sure you find a brand with actual ginger in it.

Eat small frequent meals ~ often times eating a large meal three times a day can make morning sickness worse. Try eating a small meals spaced out every couple of hours.

Eat protein rich snacks ~ protein can help lessen your morning sickness, try a handful of almonds or a piece of turkey for a snack.

Mind Body Techniques ~ You may doubt acupressure and acupuncture and other types of alternative therapies, but they DO work. You can even do them at home, yourself.  These techniques are frequently the ones that cure morning sickness permanently.  

Even though it can be unbearable keep in mind that morning sickness rarely lasts past sixteen weeks. If you try some of these basic remedies you should be able to find some relief and feel a little better.
