Pregnancy Yoga ~ More PreNatal Yoga Poses

Published by jackie lee under Pregnancy Exercise

As I’ve said in the past pregnancy yoga is wonderful for your body, mind and spirit during pregnancy. Here are a few more pregnancy yoga poses to help you maintain your flexibility as well as learn how to control your breath.

When you learn how to control your breath in non stressful situations you will be better able to draw on that skill during more stressful times ~ like during labor. The ability to control your breath, and therefore you mind will do you very well during labor.

Yoga helps you get in touch with your body, and your baby. It helps to connect you with your spirit and helps you to get in touch with your ability to handle anything that comes along. This video will show you what you can expect from a great pregnancy yoga video.

This last video will provide you with some pointers and some hip openers for those in their third trimester of pregnancy.

If you continue to do pregnancy yoga you will find you have less water retention and water buildup in your legs.

If you have enjoyed these yoga videos you may enjoy having a full length yoga practice at your finger tips. The one I used during my pregnancy was Prenatal Yoga With Shiva Rea, but there are numerous prenatal videos available depending on your style and the style of yoga you enjoy.

Pregnancy Yoga ~ Staying Fit and Calm During Pregnancy

More and more often expectant mothers are looking for ways to maintain their health and stay in shape during their pregnancy. Pregnancy yoga is an option many women are turning to when they find out they’re pregnant and have less options for exercise. Yoga is safe for pregnant women and has benefits for everything from flexibility to cardiovascular health. Here are some of the most important benefits of pregnancy yoga:

- Stretching poses promote circulation of blood and oxygen through the entire body, This relaxes both body and mind and promotes a sense of overall well-being

- Pregnant women often shift their pelvis forward in response to their growing belly which strains the lower back. Pregnancy yoga strengthens the core muscles, helping improve posture and decrease back pain.

- Yoga strengthens the muscles used in delivery, which will make natural childbirth easier and less painful.

- During pregnancy the digestive organs’ position can shift. This can impede digestion and cause unwanted side effects. Pregnancy yoga can help reverse this process and restore healthy digestion.

- Practicing yoga will help you build muscle, This will give you more energy and make it easier to carry your extra pregnancy weight. It will also make it easier to lose the weight once you’ve had the baby.

- One of the most important benefits of yoga for a pregnant woman is learning to focus on your breathing. Breathing properly will help you learn to relax your mind and body, even in difficult and scary situations. This focus and ability to relax will be extremely helpful during natural childbirth

If you’re looking to get involved in pregnancy yoga, whether it’s in the community or even in your home, make sure you find an instructor who specialized in pregnancy yoga, or a dvd that specially designed for pregnant women. There are certain positions that should be avoided during pregnancy so having a specialized instructor will keep you safe.

Here’s a pregnancy yoga video to get your started.
